The RROD. Red Rings of Death. It’s what all Xbox 360 owners fear the most. Even more than the dirty disc error. And despite the release of "Falcon", an internal cooler for the 360, in 2007 that was proposed to reduce the red rings the reports remained and the rings continued to plague owners.
Because of the that failure the number 33 still loomed over Microsoft and they struggled to cope with these errors by extending the warrantys to 3 years. But for most 360 owners those 3 years are fast approaching or have already passed. What to do? Microsoft says have no fear in an a report released earlier this week that another graphic card will be released dubbed "Jasper."
This new card is said to do the same things that the Falcon promised to do which is to run at a cooler rate, reduce overheating and "mitigate the abnormal number of system failures" once and for all. Big talk for Microsoft but with Jasper joining the retail units towards the end of summer I suppose the 360 may get one final hoorah.
