I was standing at the corner of a building, planning my next move. As I turned the corner, a humvee burst through the wall, instantly killing me. While I was rightfully infuriated at my death, I couldn’t help notice how unique of an experience that was.
That’s the selling point for Battlefield: Bad Company. If it’s standing, chances are you can drive through or blow it up with a grenade or a rocket launcher. This feature leads to different way of approaching situations. If your team needs to access a building and the door is covered, you can just blow a hole in the wall and enter that way.

We got our hands on the beta test today, along with the rest of the world. We got a few sessions in early before the servers went down, and once they went back up, it was hard for us to get up and write this article. The beta has two maps, Ascension and Oasis. Ascension takes place in a village, and Oasis centers around a desert area with a river running through the center. Both maps had us yearning for more. The maps were huge, sprawling over more ground than anything Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3 had to offer, and Ascension is one of the smaller maps that will make the final game. Not only were they huge, the graphics were amazing. We particularly loved Oasis, with its lush trees, small villages and beautiful river.
